Direct answer: Yes — you can use VA education benefits for beauty school in Texas at approved institutions. William Edge Institute in New Braunfels is approved for Post-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35), covering our Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Nail Tech programs.
Three practical reasons:
They’re short. Cosmetology is about 8 months full time. Esthetics is about 6. Nail Tech is about 5. You’re licensed and earning quickly rather than committing years.
The license is portable. A licensed skill travels with a spouse’s next assignment or a move home. Licensing requirements vary by state, but the training and experience transfer.
The work rewards discipline. Sanitation protocol, timing, checklists, showing up prepared — the habits that make a good service professional are habits many veterans already have.
For eligible service members and veterans. Benefits are based on your qualifying period of active duty service, and depending on your rate may cover tuition and fees with an additional housing allowance while attending. Bring your Certificate of Eligibility to admissions and we’ll certify your enrollment.
For eligible dependents and survivors of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to service, or who died in service or from a service-connected condition. Chapter 35 pays a monthly rate directly to the student.
State fees are separate: $25 permit on your first day of school, $55 theory exam and $76 practical exam paid directly to PSI, and $50 license fee paid directly to TDLR. You must pass the theory exam before you’re eligible for the practical, so build study time into your plan.
Classes run Tuesday through Saturday. Orientation is spread over the first few days, and your kit arrives around day 3. Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required.
