Technique on a mannequin is a skill. Technique on a nervous first-time guest, on a timer, with a stylist waiting for the chair, is a job. The gap between those two things is what floor time closes.

The three things you learn on the floor that you cannot learn anywhere else:

1. Consultation. Finding out what someone actually wants, and telling them honestly what their hair or skin will do.
2. Timing. Working clean and finishing on schedule.
3. Recovery. What to do when something doesn’t go to plan — with a person in your chair.

How supervision works

An instructor is on the floor at all times. Services are checked at key stages — not just at the end — so mistakes get caught while they’re still fixable. You’ll also learn the paperwork side: guest records, service notes, sanitation between guests, and station reset. Those habits are graded, and they’re also what a salon owner notices in week one.

Progression: mannequin to guest

Early in your program you’ll work on mannequins and on classmates. As you demonstrate a skill reliably, you’re cleared for guests on that service. In our Nail Tech program, for example, gel services are performed on guests, while acrylic and dip systems are practiced on mannequin hands.
