You don’t have to wait to pursue what you love, contact us today and we’ll get you started!
If you are excited to go back to school and begin a new career path, you should know how to be prepared for your first day. There’s a lot to learn and to take in, and we want to help you get the most out of your education. Here are our top five things you can do to get ready and to feel in charge of your first day of beauty school.
Students can learn a lot of information on their first day of school. You’ll want to be mentally and physically prepared. A good way to do that is to get plenty of sleep the night before your first day. Going to bed thirty minutes early and putting electronic devices away can let your mind slow down. You’ll then be ready to rock that first day!
We know that beauty school might not be the only thing going on in your life. If you have kids, a full-time job, hobbies, or events going on, you’ll want a planner to stay organized! This can be a physical planner that you keep in your bag, or there are organizational apps that you can download!
Some things you’ll want in your planner include class times, test dates, due dates, events, client appointments, and more! Learning organizational skills now, helps in juggling your future career. Organization skills are a must for future beauty professionals!
Make sure you’ve got everything you can wear your first day of school that makes you feel confident. Our dress code is black, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress up your look to fit your own edgy personality. You can wear colored belts, scarves, jewelry, and socks.
Focus on wearing clothes that make you feel confident, but that also shows you’re a professional.
William Edge Institute is an Aveda School, which means that we have high standards for the products we use. Aveda products are environmentally conscious and use ingredients that you can be proud of because they are naturally sourced with no harsh chemicals. Get familiar with our products and learn about the ingredients we use before your first day of school. It can make learning easier down the road if you already have a knowledge of Aveda products the first day.
Hold off on buying beauty tools, because the item you need might be in your beauty kit! You will typically receive your beauty kit on the second day of class.
A beauty kit can be exciting because it’s a starter kit for your dream career. We include tools and products from high-end brands we love! Your beauty kit is created to make sure you have the resources they need to become successful! Our beauty kit typically includes:
Whether it’s your first day of cosmetology school or you’re starting our manicure program, you can expect to learn beauty techniques, chemistry, and how to maintain clients. Students love our training, because we focus on giving them the education they want to learn about most.
Something unique about our school is that our salon is open Thursday through Saturday. This allows students to work in the salon a few days, but the other days they can spend time learning in the classroom. This allows students to focus on what they want to learn, whereas salon experience focuses on what the client wants. We do a lot of work in the classroom and practice on mannequins to make sure our students are excited about the work they are learning.
We firmly believe in treating our students like students to learn all the way up until graduation.
Now can be a great time to get started at beauty school, because our school focuses on sanitation and safety as part of our curriculum. We cover safety in the workplace and sterilization in all of our programs, because it is an important part of education.
“Careers in this industry are in demand! According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for cosmetologists is expected to grow 8%, which is faster than average.”
Luckily for beauty students they can work in salons, because our salons are safe, open, and taking appointments. Salon’s are all required to follow sanitization procedures that students learn about in school. Students learn how to properly sterilize their tools, keep products in a safe place, and how to sanitize the environment. These procedures and training ensures that clients are in good hands.
